Ten days. That's roughly how long your baby will be this small. A calm, unhurried studio session keeps it forever.

What a session is like

Entirely baby-led, never rushed

Sessions happen in baby's first two weeks, in a warm, quiet studio with every prop, wrap and headband provided. There's always time to feed, settle and cuddle — the session moves at your baby's pace, not a clock's.

Safety leads everything: posing is gentle, supported and learned through professional newborn training. Parents and siblings are always welcome in frame — some of the most treasured photos are the family ones.

Newborn questions

What if my baby won't sleep?
Totally normal, and planned for. The studio is warm, white noise hums, and the session simply pauses for feeds and cuddles until baby drifts off. Awake moments make beautiful photos too.
When should the session happen?
Ideally days 5–14, when babies are sleepiest and curliest. Book in your second trimester; the exact date settles once baby arrives.
How long does a newborn session take?
Two to three hours, so everything can move at your baby's pace — never the clock's.
Do you provide outfits and props?
Everything — wraps, headbands, bonnets, baskets and seasonal sets. Just bring the baby.
Can parents and siblings be included?
Absolutely. The family portraits are often the most meaningful images from a newborn session.
Can newborn photos happen at home instead?
Yes — lifestyle in-home sessions are available across Cape Coral, Fort Myers and Naples for families who want their story told where it's unfolding.

Maternity questions

What if I'm feeling uncomfortable or self-conscious?
You're not alone — most mothers feel this way, and it's the most common happy tear at the gallery reveal. Ana guides you with natural posing, flattering angles and gentle direction, so you never have to worry about what to do. Professional retouching is included in every image.
When should I book my maternity session?
During your second trimester. That leaves plenty of time to plan your experience and secure your preferred date before the calendar fills.
When is the best time to take maternity photos?
Between 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is beautifully defined and you're still comfortable enough to enjoy the session.
What should I wear?
You'll receive a styling guide with outfit inspiration and colour palettes, plus access to the client wardrobe — a curated collection of maternity gowns chosen to photograph beautifully. Or come as yourself: a white shirt and denim is a signature look.
Can my partner and children be included?
Please do. Maternity sessions celebrate a growing family, so expect a mix of individual portraits and family moments.
Where will my session take place?
The studio, one of Southwest Florida's beaches, a local park, or somewhere meaningful to you. Studio is intimate and sculpted; the beach at golden hour is pure Gulf-coast magic. Many mamas book a bundle and do both.
How long does a maternity session last?
Sixty to ninety minutes — room for outfit changes, more than one location, and unhurried portraits.
Do you offer maternity and newborn packages?
Yes. Many families document both milestones together, which makes for a seamless experience and a beautifully connected collection.
Can I bring ultrasound photos or sentimental items?
Of course. An ultrasound image, tiny shoes, a special blanket or a family heirloom adds a personal thread to your story.

She's incredible. I dreamed about my maternity session for so long, and there's nobody better than Ana with expecting mothers. She has an enormous heart, shares her experience, gets you excited with bold ideas, and we laughed the whole time.

Favorite session spots

Every location is chosen for its light. A few favorites: the soft-sand flats of Fort Myers Beach, the wild shorelines of Sanibel & Captiva, the historic Koreshan settlement in Estero with its banyans and yellow clapboard, and Cape Coral's Yacht Club at sunset. Visiting on vacation? Sessions book easily around your trip — many families reserve before they even land.

What if the kids won't cooperate?
That's completely okay — and completely normal. Sessions are playful and child-led, never barked on command. The best frames usually happen mid-giggle, mid-run, mid-chaos.
What time are beach sessions?
The last hour before sunset — golden hour on the Gulf is unbeatable and worth the bedtime push.
Can we choose the location?
Absolutely. The beach, a local park, the studio, or somewhere that means something to your family — you'll settle on the perfect setting together.
Can extended family be included?
Yes, and multi-generation sessions are a wonderful thing to have. Mention it in advance so the right collection and location can be planned.

Your session simply moves to the next available date at no extra charge. Your photographs are worth waiting for.
We're visiting from out of state. How does booking work?

Always. Most clients say they're nervous about being photographed. Ana guides you through the whole session with natural posing and prompts, so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands.
What if my children don't cooperate?
That's completely okay — and completely normal. Ana takes a relaxed, child-led approach that lets little ones play, explore and be themselves. Some of the most meaningful images happen in those perfectly imperfect moments.
Can grandparents or pets join the session?
Of course. Extended family and four-legged family members are always welcome — just say so ahead of time so the location and timing can be planned around them.
After your session5
How long until we receive our photos?
Your online gallery is typically delivered within 2–3 weeks. Once it's ready you can download your images, share the gallery, and order professional prints and artwork.

Absolutely — that's half the point. You can share the whole gallery or a single favourite, and grandparents can order their own prints without going through you.
How do I pay a remaining balance?
Session balances are paid by card on the payments page, processed securely by Square. Your balance is due before your gallery is delivered, and Ana always sends a reminder rather than letting it surprise you. Print and album orders are paid inside the gallery itself.

Headshots6
I feel awkward in front of the camera. Can you help?
This is the single most common thing people say, and it changes nothing about how the session goes. Ana directs every frame — posture, chin, hands, where to look — so you are never left guessing. Most people relax within the first few minutes.
What should I wear?
Bring two or three options in solid colours, and favour necklines and sleeves you feel comfortable in. You'll get a styling guide after booking. Darker tones sit beautifully against the studio's charcoal backdrop.
How long does a headshot session take?
Around 45 to 60 minutes for an individual, with time for a wardrobe change. Team sessions are booked by the half or full day depending on headcount.
How many images do I get?
You choose your favourites from the full gallery, and every selected image is fully retouched and delivered in both a square social crop and a full-frame version.
Can you photograph our whole team?
Yes. On-location team sessions keep everyone's portrait consistent — same light, same backdrop, same treatment — so your website's people page looks like one considered set rather than a collage.
How quickly will I get my images?
Headshots are prioritised, since they are usually needed for something. Expect your gallery within one week, and sooner if you have a deadline — just say so when booking.

Still have a question? Every family and every session is different. If yours isn't here, just reach out — Ana will walk you through the process and help you choose the right session.

Holiday & seasonal minis are announced to the email list first — join the list.

You're not sure about this. You've been meaning to book photos for six months, maybe longer. Your youngest changed so much this year and you have four hundred phone pictures and not one you'd actually frame. But you hate having your picture taken, your partner hates it more, and the thought of a stranger telling your family to smile in unison makes you want to reschedule.

I know. That's exactly why I work the way I do.

Portrait of Ana Rousseau, newborn and family photographer in Cape Coral, Florida

Olá, I'm Ana

Life through my lens

I'm a Southwest Florida photographer specializing in the season of life that moves the fastest — pregnancy, new babies, and young families. My work lives in two worlds: a calm Cape Coral studio built for newborns, and the Gulf's golden-hour shorelines.

I photograph in English and Portuguese, and my favorite compliment is the same in both languages: "it felt so easy." Sessions with me are unhurried and warm — I'd rather wait for a real laugh than pose a fake one.

Ana

Let's Plan Your Session

Faz de conta

Make believe

Every Brazilian kid knows the phrase. Faz de conta. Make believe. It's what you say right before the couch becomes a boat and the hallway becomes a jungle.

I named my studio after it, because that's the only way I've ever gotten a real photograph of a child. You cannot ask a four-year-old to look natural. You can invite her into a game, step back, and be ready.

I came to the US from Curitiba, Brazil in 2019, to study. I started photographing in my twenties — my own kids, friends' families, my sister's newborns — because I wanted to preserve the tiny, fleeting details families are usually too busy living to notice: the sleepy newborn stretches, the tiny hands, the way parents look at their children when they think no one is watching. One of the first moments that made me realise this could become more than a hobby was photographing my sister's newborn. I watched how emotional she became looking at the images, because they held a version of her baby that was already changing by the day. That stayed with me. Photography could give families something to return to long after the moment had passed.

More than fifteen years and hundreds of families later, I still do it the same way. I play first. I shoot second.

How a session actually goes

Before

We talk first, in Portuguese or English, whichever is easier for you. I ask about your family, not about your Pinterest board. I'll tell you where to be and what to wear, so you're not guessing at 6am on the day.

During

About ninety minutes. I don't line people up. We walk, we talk, the kids do what kids do, and I stay out of the way until something real happens. If someone melts down, that's fine — it has happened at every session I've ever shot, and some of my favourite images came right after.

After

Your edited gallery arrives in two to three weeks: a private online gallery with high-resolution downloads, easy sharing, and a print store for albums and wall art. Image counts depend on your collection, and you can share the gallery link with family so they can view, download and order prints directly.

  • Based in Cape Coral, FL
  • Travelling to Naples, Fort Myers, Siesta Beach, Orlando and surrounding areas
  • Shooting for more than 15 years
  • Hundreds of families photographed
  • Sessions in Portuguese and English
  • Ten years teaching photography

Things about me that have nothing to do with photography

  • I still cook pão de queijo whenever I'm homesick.
  • My own family photos are mostly blurry, mostly taken on my phone, and somehow always missing one child looking at the camera.
  • I have three kids, ages 16, 5 and 3, and they are the reason I know exactly how long a toddler will cooperate. Five minutes, if we're lucky.
  • I'm happiest with a full house, Brazilian food on the table, and music playing in the kitchen.
  • The photo I'm proudest of isn't in my portfolio. It's a completely imperfect picture of my kids together, and it's on my refrigerator.
  • I can't keep a plant alive, but I can soothe a newborn.
Ana with three generations of her own family inside a lit Christmas arch at night, her youngest walking through the frame mid-step
Me, actually in one. Three generations, one blurry five-year-old, and nobody looking at the camera. Taken by Leah, my sister-in-law · 2025

Your children will not remember the outfits. They'll remember that everyone was laughing.

The best frame is almost never the one everyone was posing for. It's the one two seconds later.

You should be in the photos. Not behind the camera. In them.

Mothers are so often the ones taking the photos, planning the outfits, packing the snacks, fixing the hair, and making the memories happen. But years from now, your children will want to see you there too — holding them, laughing with them, loving them exactly as you are.

What we'll walk through together

Four things, in this order. By the time we hang up you'll know precisely what you're getting and why.

What greatness looks like

We start with you. The people, the feeling, the two or three frames you'd still want on the wall in ten years. I ask a lot of questions, and I listen.

How the session works

Start to finish: how long we take, what to wear, where we shoot, and what happens when the baby needs an hour to feed. No surprises on the day.

How we get your results

The plan behind the pictures — timing, light, styling — and exactly what you walk away with: your gallery, your prints, your album.

Your date, held

If it feels right, we hold your date before we hang up. If it doesn't, no hard feelings — I'll point you to a photographer who fits you better.
